Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

“For Such A Time As This”

Prayer is essential.  That’s right!

  • Prayer is essential to every single person’s life!  That’s correct!
  • Prayer is essential to a person’s salvation!  That is TRUTH!
  • Prayer is essential to your spiritual journey as well as mine!  PERIOD!

Prayer is our communication with our heavenly Father!

So why in the world, would PRAYER not be of top importance to every child of God!!!

Lord,

Slow down my mind, quiet my being.  Allow my body to relax as my breathing deepens.

Reveal Yourself to me, Lord.

Allow me to sense Your abiding peace.

Help me, Lord, feel Your amazing love touching everything.

It is so amazing that when the world seems so out of control, it is YOU who controls everything!

Oh, thank You, Lord.

Thank You.  Thank You.  Thank You.

Thank You, LORD, for saving my soul, for leading me to a godly husband, and for revealing Your Amazing Grace to my daughter.

Thank You, LORD, for leading her to marry a godly husband.

For those who I love who do not yet know You as Savior, for them, specifically, I raise up their names—Today.

For those names who I lift up in prayer to You, Father, I am so grateful that You know each of them.

So, today, Father, I am asking that You open their eyes to see YOU!

Yes, Father, I ask that You intercept their path with a Christian who proclaims Your Word to them.

God, I know Your purpose has never changed.  Hallelujah!

Father, I praise Your Goodness, Your Love, & Your Faithfulness!

Help me, Lord, know more of You—Today.

Lead me, Lord, to be the hands and feet of Jesus—Today.

Give me boldness to share my testimony of how You changed my life—Today.

In Jesus’ name, I pray, asking these things.

Amen.

In the Bible, we meet many people, like us, who feel as if their world was spinning uncontrollable out of their control.  People like Esther (Hadassah), a young girl who was not raised by her parents but by her uncle Mordecai.  Without a doubt, she would never have chosen to step into the life required of her, but still she did.  Leaving her home, moving to the palace for an entire year, just to possibly gain the favor of the King of Persia, surely was not Hadassah’s idea of a “good life,” but that is exactly what God asked of her.  Mordecai helped her understand:

[Then Queen Esther spoke these words.]
“All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces know that for any man or woman who comes to the king in the inner courtyard, who is not summoned, he has only one law,”
[King Ahasuerus has only one course of action]
“that he be put to death,
unless the king holds out to him the golden scepter so that he may live.
And I have not been summoned to come to the king for these thirty days.”

[Hadassah, the Jew, who became Queen Esther of Persia, said to her uncle Mordecai.]
“And they reported Esther’s words to Mordecai.
Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther,”

[to his niece who was once called Hadassah]
“Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the other Jews.
For if you keep silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father’s house will perish.
And who knows whether you have not attained royalty
for such a time as this?”

(Esther 4: 11-14 NASB)
  • Prayer is essential to every single person’s life!
  • Prayer is essential to a person’s salvation!
  • Prayer is essential to our spiritual journey!
  • Prayer is our communication with our heavenly Father!

Prayer is essential!

So why in the world, would PRAYER not be of top importance to every child of God!!!

“In my distress I called upon the LORD,
And cried to my God for help;

He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry for help before
Him came into His ears.”

(Psalm 18: 6 NASB)

God knows exactly who lays heavy upon our hearts!

  • God knows exactly what burdens we carry!
  • God knows!
  • God knows Who we need to lean upon!
  • God knows how we stumble through life—apart from Him!
  • God knows & that’s why He Sent His Son!

Thank Goodness, God Knows!

I heard a Lauren Daigle melody early this morning, lyrics that resonated deep within me.  So, let me pause to share.  Maybe you will have time to listen:  “New” by Daigle speaks truth through song.

We can be reminded today that the life we live here on earth is temporal, and we can remember that we must keep our focus upon the eternal.

That is what God desires of us!

That is why Jesus came!

“And the scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to Him.
[The scroll was handed to Jesus as he stood in the synagogue in Nazareth.]
And He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written:
[Clearly Jesus knew exactly where to turn in the Scriptures,
where to find the passage He desired.]

“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,
BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO BRING
GOOD NEWS TO THE POOR.
HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM
RELEASE TO CAPTIVES,
AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE
BLIND,
TO SET FREE THOSE WHO
ARE OPPRESSED,
TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE
YEAR OF THE LORD.”

“And He rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down;
and the eyes of all the people in the synagogue were intently directed at Him.
Now He began to say to them,

“Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

(Luke 4: 17-21 NASB)
  • May we be persistent in prayer.
  • May we lift up those who do not yet know the salvation of God.
  • May we never tire.
  • May we bring people to meet Jesus through our daily witness.
  • May we testify about the Goodness of the LORD!

BECAUSE—

  • Prayer is essential to every single person’s life!
  • Prayer is essential to a person’s salvation!
  • Prayer is essential to our spiritual journey!
  • Prayer is our communication with our heavenly Father!

Prayer is essential!

“And the Lord said,
“Listen to what the unrighteous judge said;
“now, will God not bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night, and will He delay long for them?
I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly.  However when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”

(Luke 18: 6-8 NASB)
  • Who knows whether you have not been created—“for such a time as this?”
  • When “the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”
  • May Jesus find faithfulness in you!
  • May Jesus find faithful in me!
