FACT vs. FICTION—WHO Really Sees Us & Why We SHOULD Care That HE Does!
“LORD, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name

Since 1984, when I was a senior in high school, I have known about George Orwell’s acclaimed novel 1984. Within this dystopian novel (a futuristic plot) written in 1948, a plot line that looked at the future of the world. Orwell, in his genius, thought to call the novel, simply 1984, merely reversing the order of the numbers of the current year in which he lived and wrote (hence the title). Now, I do not mean to rehash the novel’s plot here today, but in knowing the plot (a bit), we know that the main character—Winston Smith—an ordinary guy with an ordinary name lived a life, one watched 24/7. That’s right.
- From the moment he laid his head upon his pillow in his dorm-like apartment room until the moment he raised from his bed to do his government-controlled exercises (jerks)—Winston was watched.
- From the moment he ate his breakfast to the moment he left his apartment to go to work—Winston was watched.
- From the moment he entered his office building to do his work—Winston was watched.
- When he walked in the park—Winston was watched.
- When he stood at the mandatory meetings required of all people—Winston was watched.
- On & On & On & On—In Everything—Winston was watched.
Now, this is dystopian FICTION! This is SCIENCE FICTION! This novel, while it does dabble at the edges of modern-day likeness to what we experience with extra-large televisions, with cameras positioned everywhere, and with government-like control, still the fact remains, Orwell penned a book of FICTION!
So where is the FACT, & more importantly, where should we ever turn to find the TRUTH?
Quite simply:
FACT is found only in searching the Word of GOD!
Quite profoundly:
The TRUTH is only found in turning toward GOD!
Quite naturally:
It is the ONLY TRUTH & never the fiction of this world that can EVER set us free!
Quite overwhelmingly:
God created the universe & God is mindfully aware of every man, woman, boy, and girl—for it is ALMIGHTY GOD WHO CREATED & THINKS of US!
Quite astoundingly:
We can be 100% sure of this TRUTH! How, someone might ask? That, thank You God, is so easily found when we search the Scriptures, for it is ONLY THERE WE FIND THE TRUTH!
God gave these words to His servant, David. May we read the Word of God together & May we be reminded that it is GOD’S watchful eye that matters most, as HE watches over us.
“When I consider Your heavens,
the work of Your fingers,
You have set in place;
What is man that You think of him, . . .”
(Psalm 8: 3-4a NASB)
God—who created the universe—actually cares for us!
God—who made the heavens & the earth—actually pays attention to us!
God—who made everything—gifts us with talents & skills that we can choose to use for His glory!
God—who fashioned us just right & who placed us within our mother’s womb—keeps His watchful eye upon us!
God—who wants us to accept His Only Son, to receive His offer of Salvation—sent Jesus to die a sacrificial death for each one of us!
God—Majesty—Jehovah Jireh—Father God—HE wants us to know HIM intimately!
Yes—HE DOES!
We—who see God’s hand upon EVERYTHING this world has to offer—are to do everything we can to—Be Pleasing to GOD!
We—who are merely weak vessels—are to Give Our Praise & Do All Things—For God’s Glory!
We—who are the work of God’s fingers—Find Ourselves Within the Mind of GOD!
We—who are mere humans—can only know eternity in heaven—When We Accept, Believe, & Confess our sins to ALMIGHTY GOD!
We—who are His children are constantly watched—by our Father God!
Thank YOU, GOD!
Thank YOU, GOD, for thinking of us, of mankind.
