Yes, it is a fact—WE NEVER WALK ALONE!
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever;
the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.”
(John 14: 16-17 NASB 2020)
God is aware. Yes, it is a fact—God is always aware of what we need. He knows us that well.
God is aware of what lies ahead of us. Yes, it is a fact—God is always aware of what lies ahead because He knows and cares for us that much!
God is aware of situations we will face in our future. Yes, it is a fact—God is always aware of situations, & because God knows, we can begin to pray over those “future” situations we will face—while they are not even near yet!
Wow!
Oh wow, LORD, You amaze me when I consider how much You really love us!
LORD, You care for our past, for our present, and for our future—RIGHT NOW—TODAY, even before we walk in our tomorrow—YOU ARE THERE—PREPARING THE WAY, PREPARING US, SUSTAINING US, COMFORTING US, REMAINING WITHIN US—AS WE GO!
Whenever I am given the opportunity to travel, I am always so hopeful that God will provide me a conversation with another, with a person who just may become a new relationship. I spoke with a godly man the other day at school who told me how he prays for the future conversations he will be given, how he asks God to prepare him for those future conversations and relationships he will get to enjoy. I think this is so amazing—how God knows us that well. So, it is with this awe-inspiring joy God provides that I want to share about a person, about a conversation we enjoyed (my husband and I) as we traveled abroad the other day.
We were walking one behind the other, down the airplane aisle, my husband and me, and we were excited for the journey we were about to take, together. It is a beautiful part of life to remember that we never need to travel anywhere alone. On this day, we were making our way to our seats when this lady whom I did not yet know read my t-shirt and said, “Hum, Campbellsville University.” When she said those words, I looked up and made eye contact with her.
- That was the beginning of something beautiful.
- That was the beginning of a wonderful conversation—this flight attendant and me.
- That was the beginning of getting to know—this flight attendant and us (my husband and me).
God knows the conversations we will have today, and HE cares so much about us that HE is already there—in our future moments of today—preparing the way for us. That is so amazing. Yes, it is a fact—WE NEVER WALK ALONE—once we know Jesus Christ as our Savior & LORD!
As we made eye-contact, my flight attendant and me, we enjoyed a quick chit-chat, and then I took my seat on the plane. I learned so much during that flight about a lady named Anni, a person God already knew would be in my future, even before I knew her. HE KNEW!
As we talked (over the course of the next 8+ hours) we began a relationship—Anni and me. I learned she already knew about the university and city where I work because they (her husband and her) enjoy the lake near the the same city as the university. I also learned how she lives only 40 miles away from me. Imagine that—God led us to meet a flight attendant on a foreign flight, a lady who lives close enough to our home to visit us in our future. I am so amazed by the goodness of God & how HE continually prepares us for our future days as we walk within our present days!
As we talked, I learned how Anni enjoyed gardening (like me), how Anni had children (like me), how Anni was married (like me), how Anni enjoyed being outside (like me), and how Anni liked to talk to people (like me).
GOD IS SO AMAZING!
Little did I know in that moment what God already knew, how this beautiful lady and I would enjoy a great conversation for the next eight hours. Yes, it is a fact—God knows us so well that HE already knows the people we will meet, even before we meet them.
Now, our flight attendant had a job to perform, and in fact, she told me they were short-staffed this day (6 working the flight rather than the standard 10), but that did not change the fact that we would be given the opportunity to talk.
So often, when flight attendants stop at our airplane seats, it is to offer us headphones, eye coverings, drinks, snacks, and even meals, but on this day, when our flight attendant stopped by our seats, we engaged in something more. Now, a day later, as I sit and look back at what occurred two days ago, I find myself amazed at how God walks with us into our conversations and into the relationships that HE orchestrates for us—for what is our future—while we live within our present day!
Our conversation with Anni was just that—a present-day conversation—that God orchestrated.
Our relationship we built with Anni (as she stopped longer than normal beside my seat) found us speaking about “life” topics, about likes and dislikes, about hobbies, about families, and about everything in between.
- Even though the staff was short-staffed, God knew!
- Even though the staff was short-staffed, God knew & HE prepared the way!
- Even though the plane was filled with passengers, God led Anni to us & us to Anni & HE made the way!
- Even though!!!!—God Made the Way—for Us!
God is aware. Yes, it is a fact—God is always aware of what we need. He knows us that well.
God is aware of what lies ahead of us. Yes, it is a fact—God is always aware of what lies ahead because He knows and cares for us that much!
Yes, it is a fact—WE NEVER WALK ALONE!
Today, as I read the Bible, I find myself drawn to a passage about God’s Holy Spirit, and I am comforted by the truth that Jesus knew we would need Him as we walked through our days, through our conversations, and through our situations—so HE asked the Father in ADVANCE for what HE ALREADY KNEW we would need, EVEN BEFORE we knew we would have a need!
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever;. . .”
(John 14: 16 NASB 2020)
Today, as I read the Bible, I find myself drawn to the passage that speaks about the Helper, the Spirit of God, who we could not know BEFORE we knew Jesus because we could not see the Helper BEFORE we knew Jesus!
HE KNEW WHAT WE DID NOT KNOW, EVEN BEFORE WE KNEW!
“the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you.”
(John 14: 17 NASB 2020)
- GOD IS SO GOOD—YES, HE IS—ALL THE TIME!
- GOD LOVES US BEYOND ALL MEASURE!
- GOD IS WALKING WITH US, AS WE GO INTO THE WORLD, AS WE GO ALONG OUR LIFE-PATH!
- GOD IS HERE—CONSTANT!
- GOD IS HERE—NEVER CHANGING!
- GOD WILL ALWAYS BE HERE—FAITHFULLY PREPARING OUR WAY!
- GOD REMAINS WITHIN US ALWAYS, & GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT ALWAYS GUIDES US ALONG OUR WAY!
- GOD’S SPIRIT WORKS FOR HIS GLORY & FOR OUR GOOD!
- GOD LOVES US THAT MUCH!
- GOD LOVES US SO MUCH, THAT ONCE WE BELONG TO HIM, GOD PLACES HIS PRESENCE WITHIN US—HIS PRESENCE!
As God walks with us (remaining within us) we can walk with Him in confidence, walking into conversations with others, walking into situations with confidence, and into anything that comes along the way because we know—HE IS ALWAYS WITH US & WITHIN US—FOREVERMORE!
After our eight-plus-hour flight, we said our goodbyes (the flight attendant Anni and us), but not a goodbye, have a good life kind of goodbye. I invited her to visit us at our home, to bring her husband, to share life with us—in our future days. We shared cell numbers, scribbled on small pieces of paper. She placed my cell number in her pocket, and I placed her cell number in my pocket—with promises to stay in touch.
Yes, it is a fact—THANK YOU JESUS, YOU NEVER ASK US TO WALK ALONE!
“And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you remain in Him.”
(1 John 2: 27 NASB 2020)
