Let Us—Be Amazed & Remain Awed & Always Expectant
- SEE GOD.
- WALK WITH GOD.
- KNEEL & PRAY.
- TRUST GOD.
- HONOR GOD.
- FIX OUR EYES UPON JESUS.
MAY WE, the children of God—Be Amazed!
MAY WE, the children of God—Remain Awed!
MAY WE, the children of God—Be Always Expectant!
As God’s children—May We Always Mindfully Live as Servants of God & Always Serve as the Hands and Feet of JESUS!
In studying God’s Word, we see the way God allows Himself to be seen when Elisha (a man of God) prays, asking God to reveal Himself as only He can. See with me God’s Infallible & Holy Word.
“So he sent horses and chariots and a substantial army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city [the opposing king’s army did].
Now when the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, ‘This is hopeless, my master! What are we to do?’
And he said, [Elisha said to his servant] ‘Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are greater than those who are with them.’
Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘LORD, please, open his eyes so that he may see.’
And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
(2 Kings 6: 14-17)
- Until someone can see, REALLY SEE GOD, we must SEE GOD with them, helping them SEE How GOD Moves!
- Until someone can REALLY SEE GOD, THAT HE IS THE LORD, we must WALK BY FAITH so this person can SEE GOD & how HE works within our lives!
- When someone can only throw up his hands and exclaim, “This is hopeless; I give up,” we must faithfully KNEEL in PRAYER & TRUST in ALMIGHTY GOD!
- When someone is caught and sees no way to escape, we must rely upon GOD’S MIGHT, helping them SEE GOD’S PRESENCE in all situations & all circumstances.
- When someone cannot SEE our HEAVENLY FATHER, we must live so the person SEES JESUS LIVING within US, walking with us as we walk by FAITH, seeing how we fully place our TRUST in the LORD!
Thank You God, for placing us in situations with others so we are able to witness for Your glory, &
Thank You God, for opening our eyes while we walk through the life-circumstances so we are able to bring honor and praise to You, &
Thank You God, for giving us friends and strangers we meet along our life-path.
Father, help us faithfully listen for Your voice so that our words can speak the TRUTH found only in You.
Truly, I am amazed time and again when our LORD reveals HIMSELF in distinct ways that show the world Who HE Really Is—the “CREATOR” & our “FATHER” & “ALMIGHTY GOD.”
When we are hopeful and seeking opportunities, looking for conversations with others so we can speak about our Good, Good God, then God is so faithful; He brings us into the presence of others who have questions, who have struggles, who have doubt, and who need to SEE GOD. In this Old Testament passage, we see Elisha, “the man of God” (a Believer) who seeks and knows that God is always faithful to reveal Himself when we ask and seek His will. When we are asking God for things that are consistent with His nature, with His purpose, then God will reveal Himself so others can see Him as we see Him. This truly amazes me over and again because God is always faithful to “show up” in life circumstances when all hope is gone and people are at the end of their rope. Yes, oftentimes, that is when others truly begin to SEE GOD as we SEE GOD.
Elisha knew God; he knew God would show up, & Elisha wanted to help his servant also SEE the power of God too. That’s why when Elisha’s servant exclaimed,
“This is hopeless, my master! What are we to do?”
(verse 15)
Elisha knew God would show His power & do what only God can do—Completely Rescue Them As He Revealed Himself to the whole world.
That’s why Elisha said to his attendant,
“Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are greater than those who are with them.”
(verse 16)
Then as Elisha was led by the Spirit to do, Elisha kneeled and prayed, asking God to do what ONLY GOD Could Do.
“LORD, please, open his eyes so that he may see.”
“And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
(2 Kings 6: 17)
We must be looking to SEE GOD in our daily walk.
We must be WALKING in a way that allows us to witness.
We must be KNEELING in PRAYER, expectant & hope-filled.
We must FULLY TRUST God completely.
We must HONOR GOD Every Day & In All Ways.
We must constantly & consistently FIX OUR EYES upon JESUS CHRIST, the KING of KINGS & the LORD of LORDS!
We must (as Elisha, the man of God did) pray and faithfully ask,
“LORD, please, open his eyes so that he may see.”
(2 Kings 6: 17)
Thus, I ponder the answers to these questions today:
Are we interceding in our prayers for others, or are we selfishly praying only for our needs?
Are we seeking God’s will in our prayers so others will see Jesus in us, or are we just living for ourselves?
Are we trusting God, knowing HE will Bring Change to another’s life as only GOD Can Do, or are we untrusting, wavering in our own walk of faith with God?
Just as in the days of the prophet Elisha, God will move and will reveal Himself to those who need to SEE HIM.
“And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
(2 Kings 6: 17)
Let us be amazed, time and again, when our LORD reveals HIMSELF in distinct ways.
Let us be awed, over and over, how God reveals to the world WHO HE REALLY IS.
Let us be expectant, day after day, in how our “CREATOR” & our “FATHER” moves.
Others may never see God & our Savior Jesus—unless we allow them to SEE JESUS in us.
Others may only see their circumstances (the seen)—unless we help them to SEE ALMIGHTY GOD.
Others may always see what they’ve always seen—unless we “pull back the veil” so they can SEE the SAVIOR!
Others may continue to walk in the way they have always walked—unless we help them SEE our LORD!
Let Us Live As Ambassadors, As God’s Servants—Every Day.
Let Us Be Amazed & Remain Awed & Always Expectant—Knowing God Will Do What He Does—Save Someone’s Soul for all Eternity.
There is a wonderful melody by Elevation Worship titled “Same God” that I hope you will listen to on this day because we need to be reminded how the “Same God” who Elisha called upon is the “Same God” we can call upon today.
Father God,
Thank You for giving us the opportunity to live for YOU. Thank You God for car rides, for plane journeys, for daughters, for dinner parties, and for the relationships You provide.
Help us be brave and speak courageously. Lead us to open our minds & our hearts & our mouths, proclaiming YOU to the world surrounding us today. We pray, asking in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
