LOVED So Deeply, An Immeasurable Love & One That Surpasses All Understanding
“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”
(Ephesians 3: 17-19)
I can remember the time BEFORE my daughter was born, and if you have children, maybe you can also remember. My husband and I had waited what seemed like eons to have a child, so when I first learned we were pregnant, there was a great book the OB-GYN gave me that walked me month-by-month through pregnancy. It was a Godsend, especially to a “newbie” like me who knew nothing about nothing when it came to being pregnant. I am telling you—that book was “dead-on” when it came to outlining how my body would be and react and change during pregnancy. I suppose the authors just KNEW all the stages of a typical pregnancy and what it was like for a woman to be pregnant. Never did I need to wonder about anything during the nine months of what I like to call “bliss” because the book outlined everything I needed to know.
So, when I found the next book that outlined what a new parent needed to know about a baby’s first year, well that surely was a great book to own, right.
WRONG!
I bought the book.
My daughter was born.
I read the book.
I assumed that what I gained in knowledge from the book would be exactly what I needed to raise our daughter through year number one.
WRONG AGAIN!
The child we brought home was nothing like the baby described in the book. Our daughter did not do anything on the same time schedule as the babies described in the book. She did not respond nearly like the babies described in the book. NOTHING that occurred in our home when it came to the raising of our daughter was exactly like the babies described in the book.
NOTHING!
SO, I TOOK THE BOOK TO THE THRIFT STORE & CALLED MOM MORE.
Paul wrote these words to the church at Ephesus.
“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,”
(Ephesians 3: 17-18)
Can a person accept Christ into his heart through faith, be rooted and grounded in love, and be able to comprehend with all the other Christians the breadth, length, height, and depth of God’s love?
Paul said it was possible, and the cool thing is that we are given the Bible to explain to us WHY, even if we really do not understand HOW God could love us so much.
Also, Paul writes to remind us the difference between knowing something to be true and faith. Without faith, we only “know” about God.
With faith, we are filled to the brim with God.
“and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.”
(Ephesians 3: 19)
Just as we needed to “experience” our daughter and raise her “in-the-moment” (so to speak), as believers, as Christians, we need to do the same thing. We can talk all day about what to expect and how it feels when a person becomes a Christian, but until a person accepts God’s love—by faith, & accepts that Jesus died for our sins, and that He arose on the third day, a person only “knows about the plan of salvation.”
We must be in the moment—by faith, & we must receive God’s salvation—by faith.
It’s personal.
It’s intimate between God and every single person.
When a person is “filled up to the fullness of God,” then a person truly experiences the goodness of God’s salvation.
Until then, a person only knows what to expect, what to consider will happen, and what every believer speaks about but what a lost person cannot know until he experiences it for himself.
Truly, God’s love is so deep that we cannot comprehend HOW or WHY God loves us and wants a personal relationship with us so much!
But God knows! Yes, God knows HOW it’s possible & WHY He loves us so much!
God is LOVE—100% ! &
God wants all to come to receive Him!
All People!
100% of all humanity!
