Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Leaning Upon Ourselves—It Never Adds Up!!!

Ask anyone, and they will agree—Math is not my strength, especially “head-math,” the kind of quick Math, Decipher—It—Out–In Your Head—MATHas you walk through life.

It is a fact; my husband can calculate the math even before I pull out a pencil & paper.
The joke (sometimes) is when a math concept is involved. I think about and then speak out my answer (often out loud), one clearly NOT RIGHT by the look of disbelief on my husband’s face.
“Did you just make that up?” he will ask me in regard of the answer to the math question.
Probably—-my head replies although my mouth begins to attempt to explain.
Therefore, it’s easy to see my husband is a man of numbers; whereas, I am a woman of words.  When our daughter was small, the joke was that he should refrain from teaching her any of his slang words and sayings.   Now that I think back, he should have kept me away from teaching her any of my mistaken, made-up, math answers.

Yet today—Math is the topic behind the reason of these words.

It is a truth that God created all things—Math & Words.
Yes, God really did, and so we should not be surprised when God uses His Word to reveal His calculations when we consider how He multiplies and divides and adds and subtracts.

Let us ask ourselves—

  • What is our greatest struggle—right now?
  • What keeps sleep away from our bodies—right now?
  • What causes us sleepless nights of worry—right now?
  • What creates our hearts to flutter in fearful anxiety—right now?
  • ????????????
  • Struggles.
  • Sleeplessness.
  • Worry.
  • Anxiety.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart”—That means we are to—ALWAYS— trust God 100%.
All–Is–All–Is–All–Is–All.!!!

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.”
—That means we are to—NEVER—lean upon our own thoughts and understanding0% of the Time.
Never–Is–Never–Is–Never–Is–Never!!!

When we are fully trusting God, then we should never lean upon our own knowledge and understanding.   In the world of Math, our teachers spoke of balanced equations.  It is a fact that there cannot ever be any balance within our lives whenever we are striving to figure out our own problems within our hearts while we proclaim to the world that we are trusting God.  That equation would not be solvable, and for all of us “non-math-people who search for the answers in the back of the textbook, where we just knew we were sure to find the correct answers for the odd numbered questions—-NEVER would the answer to that unbalanced equation be found. Solving Math relies so much upon balancing the equations. Consider—-

(We Trust God) + (We Lean Upon Ourselves) = 0 Truth.
(We Trust God) + (We Wait & We Believe Our God’s Got This, Whatever Our THIS May Be) = 100% Truth.

May we learn some MATH today seen through the Word of The Master Teacher.

“Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart [100% of every day]
And do not lean on your own understanding [0% of every day].
In ALL your ways acknowledge Him [100% of every moment],
And He will make your paths straight [100% of our entire life].”

(Proverbs 3: 5-6)

I don’t know about you, but that’s a pretty plain MATH concept to grasp.
I don’t know about you, but I can clearly remember in Math class how we were taught that the shortest distance between two points was a straight line.

Yes, basic Geometry.

For all those non-math students out there in the world (like me), this mathematical equation makes perfect sense!!!
For all those non-math students out there in the world (like me), this geometry concept makes perfect sense!!!

Leaning Upon Ourselves = Never Adds Up. NEVER!!!

Following our own thinking & our own knowledge = Never Adds Up.  NEVER!!!
