Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

ASK, SEEK, KNOCK, LET US TRUST.

What do we need, and the NEED is so huge that we NEED it—–even more than our next breath?
What do we need, and the NEED is THERE in the frontal lobe of our mind, constantly THERE, and we know it needs to happen?
We are people of need, & Our Needs are so different from Our Wants.
For example—-

We may want to attend a Dolly Parton concert (I know I do); we may want to go to the downtown festival today, and we may want to also see the WWII honor flight (I know I do); & We may want to grill kabobs after church on Sunday for lunch (I know I do)……BUT…..
IF we do not see Dolly in concert, the world will not end.   &
IF we do not attend the festival and honor flight, the day will still be okay.   &
IF we do not grill kabobs after church, we will still eat a Sunday lunch, one of a different fare.

Wants are not Needs…..EVER!!!
Wants are wonders, as in “I wonder will this occur.”
Wants are not Needs…….BECAUSE NEEDS ARE FAITH DRIVEN.

  • We need a better paying job to meet the finances of our family, so we pray, asking God in faith for this new job opportunity, trusting in faith that God is our Provider.  &
  • We need a healing for a loved one whose small body is fighting against brain seizures, so we call out to God, asking Him to heal this one, trusting in faith that HE is the Great Physician.  &
  • We need to see our girls, we need to hug them tightly, after a forced separation and border closure, so we pray, asking God to work out the details, trusting in faith that HE will move this mountain.

Wondering with manmade “hope” is not what we are called to do.  NO, NOT AT ALL.
Asking in faith—trusting in the assured HOPE of God.
Believing in faith—believing in the assured RESURRECTION of Jesus
Confessing in faith—knowing God is faithful to FORGIVE our sins as only God can do.

That is a beautiful benefit of being God’s child & that’s what God calls us to do.
We boldly ask.
We faithfully believe.
We do as God leads us to do.
And we trust God to do what only God can do!!!
God will answer our prayer needs because God answers 100% of ALL the prayers asked in accordance to His will.
It is never “will God hear our request” BUT “will we trust God enough to ask.”

The Bible assures us that God will hear our prayers and will answer in the way and the timing that is right unto God.
Our prayers are not connected to the limited timelines of our lives, nor to the limited thoughts of our human brains….BECAUSE…..Our prayers have eternal consequences and eternal significance.
So let us pray with boldness….fully trusting God to answer our prayers…..&…..fully knowing…….HE WILL.

During the night, my back kept me from sleeping, so I arose to sit with some moist heat on my back in my favorite blue chair.  As usual, I quietly listened to Christian rock playing in the background, as I sat there rocking in the dark, and I talked with God about the “needs” I have in the front of my mind.
When the sky lightened to expose a new day, I received an answer to a “need” I voiced to God during the night. In a Whats App message, God answered my prayer.

I have come to realize that my chronic back pain, the discomfort that pushes me out of my bed most nights is really a gift from God because in the dark moments of the early morning, while the world around me sleeps, that’s where I find my most intimate moments with God.  That’s where I find God….the Light of the world….as I sit, rocking in the dark.  GOD IS THERE.  EVERYWHERE.  In our living room  &  In our car drive to work & In our hikes through nature & In our cubicles & In EVERY PLACE we could ever think to go…..GOD IS THERE…..ready, waiting, moving, and doing that which we cannot do for ourselves, as HE accomplishes what only HE has the power to do.

Answering our prayers.
Moving our mountains.
Changing our course.
Stopping the wind and the storms of life.
Changing someone’s life.
Saving someone’s soul.
GOD IS THERE.

Unlimited by space and time.

Answering the prayers of faithful believers who FOLLOW GOD.

Answering the needs of believers who TRUST GOD.

Answering the needs of those who FAITHFULLY ASK.

So how long should we pray over a need?
We will be with God for eternity!!!!   Clearly there is no time limit we can ever set for our answers to our prayers. We should never stop trusting because we will remain with God forever!!!
So, when God’s answer comes (to a need we have prayed over & an answer from God, even after we die), then we will rejoice in heaven instead of here on earth…
BECAUSE…
GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS PRAYER!!!!
ALWAYS!!!!
The apostle Matthew recorded some of the many words spoken by Jesus during the time Jesus walked the earth, and Jesus’ words are sealed with HIS PROMISE.

Jesus tells us—“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

(Matthew 7: 7-8)

I love punctuation, so notice the placement of the commas in Matthew 7:7.
Ask,
Seek,
Knock,

May we trust God as we pause within His presence.
May we ASK,
May we SEEK,
May we KNOCK,
MAY WE VOICE OUR NEEDS TO GOD, FULLY TRUSTING GOD, ASSURED THAT HE WILL HEAR US  &  THAT HE WILL ANSWER.

  • What needs must we ASK, today, fully giving them to God to answer?
  • What needs do we SEEK, today, fully knowing God will answer?
  • What needs do we stand holding, as we KNOCK, today, fully trusting in the ONE who can open the door and who will answer?

GOD IS…..GOD IS….GOD IS….GOD IS….GOD IS….GOD IS….GOD…IS…FAITHFUL.
FOREVERMORE, GOD IS….
BEFORE…
WE EXISTED,
AS….
WE EXIST,
AFTER….
WE DIE & FOREVERMORE….
GOD EXISTS &
GOD HEARS OUR REQUESTS & GOD ANSWERS OUR PRAYERS!

Today, let us also see what God desires of us.
God desires that we—-His children—-trust Him so much, to overcome our wishy-washy wondering state, and to become….
FAITHFULLY BELIEVING  &
FAITHFULLY TRUSTING  &
FAITHFULLY PRAYING
CHILDREN OF GOD.

How are we doing?
May we give God our needs today, and May we TOTALLY TRUST GOD, to answer our prayers.
