Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

Believers:  ALL PEOPLE TOGETHER AS ONE

“You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh sabbath; . . .” (Leviticus 23: 16a NASB)

  • How are these men linked:  Moses, Paul, and the Son of God?
  • What do these books of the Bible:  Leviticus, The Acts of the Apostles, and The Letter of Paul to the Galatians have in common?
  • How are Passover, Easter, and Pentecost linked?
  • Why do the festivals of thousands of years prior, ones that are recorded in the Old Testament, come up again in the New Testament, in the writings of those who were alive?  &
  • Finally, how are the numbers 40, and 50 connected?

These are the questions that are asked of us each year as we spiritually move through the week of Passover, go into Resurrection Sunday, and step into the forty days of the revelation of Jesus to the masses.

“But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,
so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba!  Father!”
Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.”

(The Letter of Paul to the Galatians 4: 4-7 NASB)

Fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, God sent His Holy Spirit, as promised.  This event occurred before the ascension of Jesus back to heaven.   The cosmos aligned.  The heavens aligned.  The church of God was born.

The Day of Pentecost (The Feast of Weeks, as it was known in the Old Testament, will come later this month on Sunday, May 24.  This day remains a festival within believers’ hearts because it commemorates the coming of God’s Holy Spirit, sent first to the apostles and then to those gathered there together, the early disciples.  This “coming” of God’s Spirit marks the birth of the church, and in 2026, it will be observed on the 144th day of the year.

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.”
[ALL PEOPLE—from everywhere, people of all languages and of various cultures—ALL in that “one place.”]
“And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind,
and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.”
[TOGETHER—people drawn to come into one house, to a single place, on that particular day.]
“And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves,
and they rested on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues,

as the Spirit was giving them utterance.”
[This was an international crowd, nations of people from different places, all conversing together in a multitude of languages—AS ONE.]

(The Acts of the Apostles 2: 1-4 NASB)
  • Jesus had been rejected, but God’s plan had not been stopped.
  • The testimony of Jesus was not silenced by the cross.
  • The church of God was born.
  • The truth of the Gospel would permeate throughout the world.

THE CHURCH AGE HAD BEGUN on this fiftieth day since the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.

  • We still live this today.
  • The church age continues & will continue until Jesus comes.

Believers:  ALL PEOPLE TOGETHER AS ONE

We became one with Christ in likeness of His death.  Sin no longer has power over those who are in union with Christ.  Believers are positioned in Him, sealed by Him, and seated with Him.  The Bible says we will be like Christ Jesus when He appears.  We also read in God’s Word how no one has imagined what God has prepared for those who walk by faith.

“Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a pledge.” (The 2nd Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 5: 5 NASB)

God is at work, unseen, in our lives.

  • Walk On, as one in the Spirit of God.
  • Do not give up testifying.
  • Tell the Good News of Jesus Christ.
  • Do not stop sharing your story, your testimony, of how you came to trust in Jesus.
