Morning Thoughts

A walk through life toward eternity

For No Other Reason

In looking at the calendar, we see that we are five days from Christmas.  Many will spend the next five days shopping for perfect gifts, and several will attend parties, enjoying the festivities of the holiday season.  They will make plans for exchanging gifts, for meals to share, and for family gatherings filled with laughter and fun.  These are the makings of Christmas.

However, as we stand five days away from the celebration of Christmas, might we see WHY CHRISTMAS EXISTS.  Undoubtedly, Christmas resides for one reason:  That humanity might focus upon the Creator of the world.  For no other reason than Jesus do we celebrate.  Jesus came, not to be part of the world He created but God came in the person of His Son to save humanity.

“It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.”

(The First Letter of Paul to Timothy 1: 15a NASB)

The apostle Paul recognized his own sinfulness, realizing he was the chief sinner of all.  Paul knew what he was before Jesus, and Paul understood who he was since Jesus.

  • Persecutor of Believers.
  • Blasphemer of God.
  • Tormentor & Aggressor toward Christians.

“Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief;
and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant,
with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.”

(The First Letter of Paul to Timothy 1: 113b-14 NASB)

Praise be to God who saved Paul, changing him from what he was to who he became in Christ—

  • God offered him eternal life.  & then the
  • Lord put him into service, so Paul could share with others the goodness of God—the salvation found in Christ.

You see, God offered Himself for each one of us.

The Lord places us in service to Him (as a bondservant) once we receive His salvation through faith in Jesus, by the grace the Lord offers.

Yes, it is FACT:

  • The world God created stands in opposition to God.
  • Humanity, in its sinfulness opposes everything good found in the Creator.

So, God came to earth, coming in the person of His Son, being born in a lowly manger, coming to bring His salvation to mankind.

Christmas resides for one reason.

  • Might we focus upon the Creator of the world at Christmas.  &
  • Might we focus upon the Creator of the world on the other 364 days.

For no other reason—than JESUS—do we celebrate Christmas,  &

For no other reason—than JESUS—do we exist.

  • May we love with a love made possible by the Holy Spirit residing within us.
  • May we devote ourselves to spreading the TRUTH of JESUS.

Let us walk away from all temptation and sinfulness, refusing any part of the deceiver Satan, for we exist here on earth for one reason.

JESUS, HE IS THE REASON.  CHRISTMAS is about the CREATOR of the world.
