Beginning—To—End: God’s Timing Is Perfect
May we state the obvious: God’s timing, from the beginning to the end, is perfect. In saying this, we may think of a season of life, a time of our lives, of the time when our children were small, or even of a semester that has begun and ended. Each semester, graduation comes, and after serving as an instructor for several years, now I see former students walk across the stage to shake the president’s hand, to receive their diploma, and to graduate. Time Passes; it is a fact, & Time Cannot Be Slowed or Stopped; it is a fact.
This week, the second daughter God has given to me through love has experienced the death of her grandmother, her biological mother’s mother. This one lived into her nighties, a long life many would say, but in the timing of eternity, a tiny speck of time.
Last night at church, I spoke with a sister-in-Christ who shared how a sweet lady we know now resides in Hospice care, meaning her time on earth will be brief. This one has lived into her eighties, a long life many would say, but in the timing of eternity, a tiny speck of time.
We know that the day we are born is the day we begin to die. Many would say this statement is pessimistic, a half-empty thinking; however, for the believers, the Christ-followers, this statement is optimistic, a half-full thought.
GOD HIMSELF HAS SET ETERNITY IN MAN’S HEART.
The Bible tells us so!
“[JEHOVAH GOD] He has made everything appropriate [beautiful] in its time.
(The Book of Ecclesiastes 3: 11 NASB)
[ALMIGHTY GOD] He has also set eternity in their heart, [man’s] yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.”
Eternity. Have we really considered just how long the time might last? And, yet, Solomon tells us how God has set this timeframe in our hearts, so as to grapple with it, to wonder about its duration, to long for it, to want it, and to find peace in the truth of it. GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING & HE CONTROLS ALL THINGS!
GOD is Sovereign & GOD is Providential: HE KNOWS even the birth and death of every solitary man. Therefore, the Lord “has made everything appropriate in its time.” This means that the one who has just died, the passing, is in God’s timing, and the one who has just been born, then that one too has begun life—in God’s perfect timing.
Have you and I set our mind on eternity with Christ?
- If so, do we have certain obstacles in our lives that hinder our walk with Jesus?
Have we given our hearts to Jesus?
- If so, do we walk in an intimate relationship with Him?
The Lord desires this of us, His creation.
Have we set our eyes on eternity?
- If not, then what is holding us back?
- If not, then consider the truth: Today is the perfect day—God’s Salvation Day.
The apostle Paul wrote in his second letter to the believers living in Corinth:
“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying,
(The 2nd Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 4: 16-18 NASB)
yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen;
for the things which are seen are temporal,
but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
So, even if we cannot fathom the length of eternity; still, it exists. The source of life is found in Christ Jesus—to those who have chosen to believe. The death of Christ is the source of life—for those who have given their hearts to Jesus, the Son of God.
Praise God, Jesus defeated death on the cross and in the grave! & Hallelujah, Jesus has brought life immortal through the gospel message!
- Even though a prisoner and chained between two guards, the apostle Paul could still proclaim the truth he knew to be true, for the worst persecution on earth IS to have NO access to the Kingdom of God.
- Although Paul was facing his own certain execution, still, he could remain resolute in the truth of God.
“Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, descendant of David, according to my gospel, for which I suffer hardship even to imprisonment as a criminal; but the word of God is not imprisoned.
(The 2nd Letter of Paul to Timothy 2: 8-13 NASB)
For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.
It is a trustworthy statement:
For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, he also will deny us;
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.”
Because we are born, we face death. In God’s Timing, Today Could Be Our Death Day.
Beginning—To—End: God’s Timing is Perfect.
Because Jesus lives in us, we can face the terror of death & still testify of Jesus, our Savior and Lord.
Believers in Christ are united in TRUTH—WE ARE ALIVE IN HIM!
