Bear Witness: Counted with Him—Who is Faithful and True
We live in a world where these words can often be heard: JESUS IS COMING SOON. If we hear these words and have already believed, then they bring a sense of urgency, for there are many who we know who have not yet believed, who are unprepared for the day of Jesus’s Coming. However, if we hear these words and have NOT believed, then they bring two reactions:
- A ‘ho hum’ attitude because the Christians in the world have been saying these words for centuries. OR
- An internal stirring of fear, for the one listening has also felt the Holy Spirit of God speaking to the person’s heart, telling him how he must believe and be saved.
Despite the reaction, the Truth Remains: JESUS IS COMING SOON.
The psalm centermost in the Word of God records:
“Forever, O LORD,
(The Psalms 119: 89-94 NASB)
Your word is settled in heaven.
Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations;
You established the earth, and it stands.
They stand this day according to Your ordinances, For all things are Your servants.
If Your law had not been my delight, Then I would have perished in my affliction.
I will never forget Your precepts, For by them You have revived me.
I am Yours, save me;
For I have sought Your precepts.”
Last evening, my partner for life, my husband and I were talking, discussing the passage of time. He was searching for old photos, ones from twenty-six years ago and ones that would reveal how much our grandson resembles his mother (our daughter), and as he looked through an album (yes, they exist), we spoke of time. He found photos that proved the truth, that bear witness: our grandson does look like his mama.
This morning, the Holy Spirit led me to a particular passage, one discussing the passage of time and the coming of Christ. John, the apostle of Jesus Christ was led to record The Revelation to John while ostracized on the isle of Patmos. John wrote to Bear Witness, what the Spirit revealed, what John saw with his spiritual eyes, to be counted with Him—The One Who is Faithful and True!
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war.
(The Revelation to John 19: 11-16 NASB)
His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean,
were following Him on white horses.
From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written,
KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Jesus Christ, the LORD and the KING will come and He will reign for eternity.
Every child born in this world has the opportunity to believe, to come to faith in Jesus Christ. When the disciples of Jesus came into Judea, John the Baptist was proclaiming
Bearing Witness: Counted with Him—the One Who is Faithful and True!
Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God, the One Who came from heaven, to take away the sin of the world.
“He who has received His testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true.
(The Gospel According to John 3: 33-36 NASB)
For He who God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure.
The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.
He who believes in the Son has eternal life;
but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
We either choose to believe the truth—OR—We choose to remain lost.
To Believe is to: Not perish but receive everlasting life.
People across the globe ask, “What does it mean to believe?”
- To Believe the Bible, the Word of God.
- To Believe in God and pass from death to life.
- To Believe in Jesus’s finished work on the cross, for the forgiveness of sins. &
- To Believe in Jesus Christ, who came to save sinners, who brought God’s gracious gift of salvation and eternal life.
- To Believe is to receive the Truth.
Jesus was sent to bear heavenly witness of the invisible God.
“And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
(The 1st Letter of John 5: 11-12 NASB)
He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.”
Believe it, for it is the gospel truth.
Be Counted with Him—Who is Faithful and True!
There are two melodies, “Call It Saved,” one sung by Caleb & John that contains the lyric: “Call what you want, I call it saved” and one sung by Megan Woods titled: “Royal Blood.” Pause now and listen as these two songs bear witness to the listening world. May we choose to Bear Witness: Counted with Him—Jesus Christ, the One Who Came to Save, spoke to bear witness of Himself—the One Who is Faithful and True!
“For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming
(The Gospel According to Matthew 24: 44 NASB)
at an hour when you do not think He will.”
