It’s Foolishness to NOT Worship the ONE Who Created Us
As it stands, throughout the duration of my life, there have been several trips around the sun. Fifty-nine to be exact, and while I physically did not strap myself in an aircraft and fly around the sun, many birthdays have come my way. For those who know me, I enjoy saying how I wish for forty-plus more, but truly, only God knows how many more He has allotted for me.
During the time I have lived topsoil, the idea of worship has been taught to me, and the fear of idol worship has been taught as well. Nevertheless, truth be told, we live in a generation where we believe we are above idol worship, that we are more sophisticated, more removed, more this or that. Truly, we are NOT. In fact, in our modern-day, technology-filled generation where everything we desire seems to be at our fingertips, our consumption of idol worship may be at an all-time high worldwide. Maybe we wonder why? It is because they (the idols) glitter and shine and appeal to our natural senses. We will go after them as little children, seeking to play with “things” that have no lasting satisfaction. Satan, in his craftiness, fears God and knows his time is short, so he strives to pull those who believe and have given their hearts to God—far away from following and worshipping God.
Nevertheless, GOD IS AWAYS GOD & WORSHIPPING GOD REMAINS THE ONLY SATISFACTION OUR SOUL NEEDS, and nothing else.
In 2025, Worship remains vitally important for God’s creation. The Bible speaks this so in so many sections, chapters, and verses. God knows what we are capable of—for He created us—and God knows how far away from Him we can stray if left on our own. Apart from God, we are a mess, for our worship becomes fixated on so many other people, things, situations, and life goals. Within our modern-day environment, we seem to believe that we are a sophisticated people who can remain far removed from idol worship, and in fact, we may even whole-heartedly believe that it is not even possible for us to worship idols as the Israelites did during the Old Testament days.
The Word of God proclaims how there is nothing farther away from the truth, for even during this modern century, idol worship still causes us to pay MORE than we ever want to pay & it still takes away MORE from us than we are ever willing to give or admit.
The psalmist David wrote:
“The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied.”
(The Psalms 16: 4 NASB)
- There is amazing truth! Repentant sinners who flee to the cross for forgiveness do not come into judgment but pass from death to life.
- There is another real truth! The eternal consequences of rejecting God’s offer of salvation are quite fearful.
Almighty GOD is long-suffering. TRUE! The wrath of the only Eternal GOD will come. ALSO TRUE!
It’s Foolishness to NOT Worship the ONE Who Created Us!
In God’s Holy Word, the apostle Paul wrote to those living in Rome about unbelief and its consequences, and in doing so, he reminds us living today, that GOD expects our unadulterated love and nothing less, for we serve a jealous GOD. Our Father will not share our love for other common, man-made gods; our Father wants 100% of our worship—nothing less!
“For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
(The Letter of Paul to the Romans 1: 21-25 NASB)
Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie,
and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator,
who is blessed forever. Amen.”
Worship remains vitally important for God’s creation, even today in 2025, and our heavenly Father knows just what we are capable of when left on our own. Thankfully, He never leaves us to ourselves. He knows, for He created us, and He knows how far away from Him we are capable of straying when we are left on our own. Thank Goodness He Never Lets Us Go!
Thus, during this modern century, one where the worship of idols still causes us to pay far MORE than we ever want to pay & the worship of idols still takes away MORE from us than we are ever willing to give or admit. So, let us turn back to God and not give our worship to anyone but HIM. David, the psalmist ends his psalm by reminding us of the joy to be found in WORSHIPPING ONLY THE ONE TRUE GOD.
“For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol [to death];
(The Psalms 16: 10-11 NASB)
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.
You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”
