Let Us Be Patient for His Perfect Timing
Today is July 26th. Why lead with this calendar date? Since this day is the 26th, this means there are only seven days remaining. Maybe you are reading and wonder: Leading to what? August 2nd is a mere seven days away from today. Unfortunately, each of the preceding sentences may cause more confusion than clarity; nevertheless, August 2nd may just become the BIGGEST day of the upcoming calendar year two years from now.
In the publication The Times of India, the author lead with this sentence: “On August 2, 2027, the world will witness a historic total solar eclipse, one of the longest of the 21st century. Spanning across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, the eclipse will bring 6 minutes and 23 seconds of breathtaking total darkness in specific regions, allowing a rare and extended view of the Sun’s corona.”
A few years ago, I found myself packing a bag for a road trip north, traveling nine-plus hours north to view a solar eclipse. We arrived a few hours prior to the expected time of the eclipse, and so we needed to patiently wait. However, in the wait, we were not lazy; we were busy preparing ourselves. We prepared our cameras, Isabella handed out the special eclipse snack bags she had prepared, and we made sure that we had our special glasses ready to put on at just the exact moment when the moon moved into the path of the sun, darkening the day. If we had not purchased and prepared, then our retinas would have been in jeopardy and burned.
The time came, and allow me say: At the precise time provided by astronomers, we placed our special glasses on our faces, leaned back our heads, and looked up—watching the moon move across the face of the sun, totally ‘eclipsing’ the sun and plunging the bright, sunny day into temporary darkness reserved for the evening-time. The length of an eclipse will normally last less than three minutes, but in 2027, the projected length of time “will bring 6 minutes and 23 seconds of breathtaking total darkness.”
As I reread the scientific article again today, I found myself turning to God’s Word, amazed by God’s perfect timing. Walk with me to see some examples.
* See God’s Timing
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
(Genesis 1: 1 NASB)
**
“God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good.
(Genesis 1: 31 NASB)
And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.”
*** See Abram’s Timing
“And Abram said, “Since You have given no offspring to me, one born in my house is my heir.”
(Genesis 15: 3-6 NASB)
Then behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
“This man will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body,
he shall be your heir.”
And He took him outside and said,
“Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.”
And He said to him,
“So shall your descendants be.”
Then he believed in the LORD;
and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.”
**** See Joseph Timing
“Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come closer to me.”
(Genesis 45: 4-8 NASB)
And they came closer.
And he said, “I am your brother Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.
Now do not be grieved or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here,
for God sent me before you to preserve life.
For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.
God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth,
and to keep you alive by a great deliverance.
Now, therefore, it was not you who sent me here, but God;
and He has made me a father to Pharaoh and lord of all his household
and ruler over all the land of Egypt.”
***** See the LORD’S Timing for His Only Son Jesus
“Thus says the LORD,
(The Book of Isaiah 49: 8 NASB)
“In a favorable time I have answered You,
And in a day of salvation I have helped You;
And I will keep You and give You for a covenant of the people,
To restore the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages;”
****** God’s timing is always right on time; let us be patient for His perfect timing.
“this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God,
(The Acts of the Apostles 2: 23-24 NASB)
you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.
But God raised Him up again,
putting an end to the agony of death,
since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.”
Jesus’ resurrection from the grave, coming exactly three days after His crucifixion, proves that the Lord God’s timing is worth the wait. WHY? It is because God can do more than you or I can ever dream of doing in our entire lives.
- Jesus is who He says He is!
- Jesus came to earth as the Son of man, but that does not negate the truth!
- He remains the Son of God!
******* God’s timing is never too early; Jesus’ birth occurred at exactly the correct time. &
*******God’s timing is never too late; Jesus’ death historically came at God’s exact timing.
“But when the fullness of the time came,
(The Letter of Paul to the Galatians 4: 4-7 NASB)
God sent forth His Son,
born of a woman, born under the Law,
so that He might redeem those who were under the Law,
that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Because you are sons, God has sent for the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son;
and if a son, then an heir through God.”
You and I were made for such a time as this. Therefore, in our time alive here on earth, we have been called to spread the gospel. We must live, being about His interests, His business, and by imitating His ways and actions. Jesus knows the impact we will have when others cross our paths, for God has made you and I for such a time as this.
- To believe Jesus is God is difficult for a non-believer: for a person who is not a Christian, who is not a follower of Jesus.
- To believe Jesus is God for those who believe—It is a Given!
Let Us Pray for those the LORD will place into our path today, preparing ourselves, for today,—“the world will witness a historic total solar eclipse, . . . allowing a rare and extended view”—of the SON of GOD.
Let Us Be Patient for His Perfect Timing, but let us not be lazy in the wait, for the Bible is clear: Those whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of Life will perish.
“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it,
(The Revelation to John 20: 11-15 NASB)
from whose presence earth and heaven fled away,
and no place was found for them.
And I saw the dead, the great and the small,
standing before the throne, and books were opened;
and another book was opened, which is the book of life;
and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it,
and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them;
and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.
Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.
This is the second death, the lake of fire.
And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life,
he was thrown into the lake of fire.”
- Let Us Be Prepared in our Praying.
- Let Us Be Prepared in our Bible Study.
- Let Us Be Prepared to Testify about the mercy & grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
