Eternity Exists with Certainty
We can be sure. We can be for certain. We can know that we know we will be there. & Without doubt, we can fully believe through faith that we will be present in heaven with God.
Good thoughts, right?!
Let’s see what the prophet of God, Amos, speaks about this assurance we have, for those who believe in Jesus through faith.
“The Lord GOD of hosts,
(The Book of Amos 9: 5-6 NASB)
The One who touches the land so that it melts,
And all those who dwell in it mourn,
And all of it rises up like the Nile
And subsides like the Nile of Egypt;
The One who builds His upper chambers in the heavens
And has founded His vaulted dome over the earth,
He who calls for the waters of the sea
And pours them out on the face of the earth,
The LORD is His name.”
- We can with certainty be sure that the LORD will never let us go.
&
- We can with certainty know that we know the LORD will carry those who believe in Jesus into heaven, to exist eternally with Him.
We can be certain & know because the Bible gives us an example, a person who was gifted with the opportunity to SEE heaven while he still existed here on earth. Stephen, the man who was set aside as the first deacon, was persecuted for his faith, to the point of his death. On the day when he was stoned to death, the LORD gave Stephen the ability to SEE that which he could not fully see with his earthly eyes, and in Stephen’s SPIRITUAL SEEING, we are given the Certainty that Eternity Exists!
“Now when they heard this,
(The Acts of the Apostles 7: 54-58 NASB)
[when they heard Stephen preach about the coming of the resurrected Jesus]
they were cut to the quick,
and they began gnashing their teeth at him.
But being full of the Holy Spirit,
he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God,
and Jesus standing at the right hand of God;
and he said,
“Behold, I see the heavens opened up and
the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
But they cried out with a loud voice,
and covered their ears
and rushed at him with one impulse.
When they had driven him out of the city, they began stoning him;
and the witnesses laid aside their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul.”
I find it quite amazing how the LORD works!
Beyond a shadow of doubt, the LORD was working in Saul’s heart that day when those men who stoned Stephen for his preaching of the gospel, when they placed their outer robes at Saul’s feet. We have several biblical examples that provide with “Certainty” that “Eternity Exists,” and this is quite exciting. However, as with Amos, Stephen & Saul—It Begins with Faith in God.
- We can be sure, for certain, in fact.
- We can know that we know that we know—we will be there, in heaven with the LORD.
Without any doubt, we can fully believe through faith that we will be present in heaven with God.
Until we die or until the day Jesus returns, we remain as we are, working as servants of God, testifying to those we know and those whom the LORD places into our paths. This is that which the apostle Paul (the young man named Saul) wrote—the truth of God.
“Therefore, being always of good courage, knowing that while we are home in the body we are absent from the Lord—for we walk by faith, not by sight—we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.”
(The 2nd Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 5: 6-8 NASB)
