The truth remains the truth—God has set eternity in our heart!
IF JESUS WERE TO COME TODAY, WOULD YOU BE ONE WHO IS “IN CHRIST,” WHO WILL NEVER DIE?
IF JESUS WERE TO COME TODAY, DO YOU KNOW WHAT COMES AFTER THE DASH ETCHED ON EACH TOMBSTONE?
God’s Word speaks only truth—those “in Christ” will never die!
The Bible answers the hard questions we ask. Humanity seeks to understand life and death. We ponder: How can we know heaven exists? & From Whom does the promise of eternity come? We are reminded in God’s Word how Jesus made the Way for each of us to seek Him, even while we remain enslaved to our sinful nature. That’s right. We are not required to ‘clean-up’ our lives first before we come to know Jesus as Savior and Lord because Jesus made the only way for us to reach our eternal, heavenly home.
Heaven’s promise comes from Jehovah God—the Creator of heaven and hell, the Father of the universe, of the animals, and the One who breathes life into mankind. It is God Himself who places the promise of eternity in our hearts!
The LORD speaks only truth!
“He has made everything appropriate in its time.
(The Book of Ecclesiastes 3:11a NASB)
He has also set eternity in their heart, . . . .”
God has!
This might be a good place to pause and listen as Matthew West sings: “I Need Jesus.”
We read several Scripture passages recorded in God’s Word about times when Jesus was speaking with His disciples, where He reminded them—
- I am going to prepare a place for you. & I will see you one day soon.
These promises of God were for them (for His disciples) & they remain true for us. God’s promises are for all who believe and place their faith in Him. We know this to be true by digging into God’s Holy Word, seeing places where the Bible specifically tells us so. So, friend, do you ever find yourself contemplating the next phase of life? Do you ever wonder what type of body we will have in the afterlife? Maybe you do. Well, I do, too.
First, we must remember God’s Amazing Truth: Those “in Christ” will never die!
The main reason we can know that believers will never die is based on one solitary truth—We do not have the ability to reach paradise on our own. WE NEED JESUS! So, as we contemplate never dying and instead living forever, we ask: What, then, will our bodies be like in the afterlife?
Consider these facts about earthly humanity:
- My husband and my two brothers-in-law wear hearing aids to help them hear clearly.
- Last year, my back required surgery to repair the parts I had broken while living life.
- A beautiful lady I know must walk through this life in blindness, enduring everyday life without seeing with her physical eyes.
- Recently a younger cousin of mine needed to suffer through surgery to have his leg amputated below the knee.
- My mom, who is aging nicely but who is eighty, suffers with rheumatoid arthritis.
- Within our church family, beautiful Ms. Ruby is plague with dementia, & Ms. Linda’s mother is on her deathbed.
These are earthly body conditions. Our bodies will not be plagued with these stressors, with these factors, with the physical hinderances that have been with mankind since the garden of Eden. Since the fall of man, these earthly issues will remain with us but only until Jesus comes. Yes, that’s right. Health issues hinder us now, here on earth, while we wear our earthly bodies.
But Hallelujah—The Bible is crystal clear!
Yes, Praise God, one day soon, none of these earthly problems will cause us distress any longer. This promise was for those who came before us and for those who live today—for those who have given their hearts to Jesus.
The Word of God tells us that our dead bodies will resurrect to NEW LIFE in Him, rising up to meet Jesus in the clouds on “that day.”
When Jesus comes again to earth, the world will see HIM THERE IN THE CLOUDS.
However, Just as True—
Those—who choose to NOT give their hearts to Jesus, who choose to NOT believe in Him as their Savior and Lord, who choose to remain just as they are in this earthly life—will also face their resurrection, but theirs will be for their judgment because of their unbelief.
Truly, this is sobering!
- When a person gives his heart to Jesus, our reward is heaven.
- But it is only when a person remains in his sin that he is denied heaven.
Jesus, spoke HIS TRUTH within HIS WORD!
“Truly, truly, I say to you,
an hour is coming and now is,
when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God,
and those who hear will live.
For just as the Father has life in Himself,
even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself;
and He gave Him authority to execute judgment,
because He is the Son of Man.
Do not marvel at this;
for an hour is coming,
in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,
and will come forth;
- those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life,
- those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.”
(The Gospel According to John 5: 25-29 NASB)
Let us encourage all we meet to listen to the authority of the Messiah, the One sent by God—
- Jesus, the Son of God, speaks ONLY TRUTH.
- Jesus died on the cross, & then He rose from the grave, making LIFE POSSIBLE.
- Jesus completely erases the only possible thing (SPIRITUAL DEATH) that keeps humanity from heaven.
Praise God, Jesus provides the ONLY WAY!
May we tell every person we know: “You must choose to believe in Jesus. & You must ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, and to come into your life.”
“Whom have I in heaven but You?
(The Psalms 73: 25-26 NASB)
And besides You, I desire
nothing on earth.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.”
In closing, we end with a final question: IF JESUS WERE TO COME TODAY, WOULD YOU BE ONE WHO IS “IN CHRIST,” WHO WILL NEVER DIE!
The truth remains the truth—Seek Jesus today, while there is time.
